Home Information Packs (HIPs) for the sale of your House

All homes marketed for sale no longer require a HIP.

As from midnight on 20th May 2010, the requirement for a HIP to be commissioned before a property could be put on the market has been suspended by the government.

All properties for sale will still need an Energy Performance Certificate

EPCs tell you how energy efficient a home is on a scale of A-G. The most efficient homes - which should have the lowest fuel bills - are in band A.

The EPC also tells you, on a scale of A-G, about the impact the property has on the environment. Better-rated homes should have less impact through carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The average property in the UK is in bands D-E for both ratings. The EPC includes recommendations on ways to improve the home's energy efficiency to save you money and help the environment.

Provided you have commissioned an EPC, you can proceed with marketing your property for sale even if it is not yet available.
